We are unconventional.
Before it tried too hard to be cool, before a suspicious fire, Melbourne’s Motel Nightclub was ‘a bit daggy’. It was 2004. The clientelle were often tradies in their good outfits, together with their office-worker girlfriends. A tongue-in-cheek campaign to ‘keep it real’ gave an immediate lift to numbers because the patrons identified with a message that did not take itself too seriously.
